That's No Moon - Or is it?

Obi-Wan in Star Wars (1977) - "That's no moon. It's a space station."

Me on Turnipblog (2006) - "That's not the Death Star. It's Saturn's moon Mimas.

In this post(link) I told you about the Cassini spacecraft that is currently orbiting and studying Saturn and its moons.

Well, Mimas is one of Saturn's moons and it looks like the Death Star. Mimas is 398 km (247 miles) across.

What looks like the superweapon that blasted Princess Leia's peaceful home planet of Alderaan is actually a giant crater called Herschel, which is a third the size of the moon itself. Herschel, is about 130 kilometers (80 miles) wide and 10 kilometers (6 miles) deep.
