Stephen Colbert is a comedian/journalist who is from Charleston and got famous on The Daily Show before starting his own show on Comedy Central, The Colbert Report(link).Colbert's "thing" is that he is a ridiculously conservative "news" show host.
Colbert was asked to speak this past weekend at the White House Correspondent dinner. It was one of the best comic performances ever. A truly great moment in American Comedy. You have to watch the video.
