We are huge Gamecock Basketball fans.That is why we were sad when USC player Renaldo Balkman (check out my autographed poster, at right) decided to for-go his last year of elligibilty at USC and make himself eligible for the NBA draft.
Balkman averaged 9.6 PPG and 6.3 RPG a game as a Junior last year at USC.
Last night, Balkman was drafted by the New York Knicks with the 20th pick in the NBA draft.
The "shocker" is that, 9 picks before Balkman, the Orlando Magic picked a white player who writes bad poetry (link), has a bad back, a recent DWI (link), and a history of choking in the big game (link) ...

I am unfamiliar with Redick's hand gesture in the picture - is it a variation of "the shocker?"
Balkman has the best hair in the draft and I bet he would be voted most likely to twist one up to celebrate being drafted in round 1.
JJ isn't giving us "The Shocker" in that photo, it is a similar hand gesture called "The Laettner".
